Kallee Lins, the NDP candidate for Columbia–Kootenay–Southern Rockies, made the following statement in reaction to the federal election being set for April 28:  “I’m ready to hit the ground running on this campaign.

“People in this riding are worried. They’re concerned about Donald Trump’s attacks on our economy, they want to find a home they can afford, and they want to see the costs come down.

“I want you to know I’m ready to fight for all the hard-working people in Columbia–Kootenay–Southern Rockies.

 “The Liberals promised they’d do government differently–but many Canadians feel let down.

“Meanwhile, New Democrats have delivered–saving everyday families money by getting Canadians free diabetes medication and birth control and making sure that everyone can see the dentist when they need to. The NDP fights for families like yours, and they win,” Lins said.

“On the flip side, Pierre Poilievre and our local Conservative MP have voted against dental coverage and free medication every step of the way, all to hand out more to corporations and the ultra wealthy. The worst part? They’ve got dental coverage themselves.

“Now, the Conservatives will say they’re in it for working families, but they want to cut pensions and EI and roll over to Trump’s threats.

“In Columbia–Kootenay–Southern Rockies, the NDP is the only choice to stop the Conservatives from cutting programs and compromising Canadian sovereignty.

“Electing me means having an NDP MP who will put working- and middle-class families first, build homes you can afford, lower the cost of living, and stand up to Trump. I’m in it for you.”
