Need-to-know for the upcoming Kootenay Country Fair
The Kootenay Country Fair organizing committee has had its last meeting before the September 8 Fair and they want you to know a few things.
All entry forms must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3. Please email: [email protected] or: [email protected]
Late entries may be displayed but not eligible for judging. Check exhibitor rules on page 24 of the catalog for more information.
Find catalogs at Top Crop, Top Crop Too, Cranbrook Photo and The Cottage Restaurant or check the Fair website: www.kootenaycountryfair.com
All exhibits for the fair are accepted at the Fort Steele Opera House Saturday, September 7 between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. for judging. A 50 cents per item charge must be paid when you drop off your exhibit. One photography entry, one quilting entry and one craft entry will cost you $1.50.
There will be time that day to make it to the Farmers’ Market in town and come out to Fort Steele Heritage Town to drop off your exhibits.
Junior entries only: first second and third place in each class will receive cash prizes.
All exhibits must be left on display until 4 p.m. on Sunday. Remember to stay for the auction which starts at 430 p.m. in the Opera House.
Calling all exhibitors, you are cordially invited to submit your creations in the 17 sections that encompass all aspects of what a country fair is. Share your favourite relish made from your own garden produce. Enter your eggs to be judged for the look of the yolk and the consistency of the white. Perhaps you have taken up needle work or a new craft. Enter your creation so others can enjoy your offering. Your entries make the fair what it is, a gathering of Kootenay Heritage.
There is so much to see and do at the 42nd annual Kootenay Country Fair. Join the organizing committee and section conveners on Sunday, September 8, at Fort Steele Heritage Town, gates open 9 a.m.
