Nitros and Ghostriders advance in KIJHL playoffs
The Kimberley Dynamiters and Fernie Ghostriders have advanced to the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Eddie Mountain Conference finals (second of four rounds).
The regular season division leading Columbia Valley Rockies dropped a 5-1 decision to the Ghostriders last night (Feb. 25) before 1,020 faithful at the Fernie Memorial Arena, seizing the series in six games.
The favourite Dynamiters pushed the Golden Rockets aside Friday night with a 4-0 game five victory at the Civic Centre before 1,167 fans.
Creston Valley Thunder Cats kept its season rolling Friday night with an 8-5 win over the favourite Grand Forks Border Bruins in the Neil Murdoch Division semi-final. The Cats finished last in the Eddie Mountain Division but because the squad had more points than the Castlegar Rebels, they crossed over to that division’s playoff bracket.
Kimberley and Fernie now face off in the Eddie Mountain Division final series.
And the Thunder Cats move on to face the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in the Neil Murdoch Division finals.
