Nitros sit second in KIJHL Power Rankings

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) completed its fifth week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlight the top five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide positioning.

The Princeton Posse are still No.1. The Posse won two of their three games last week, taking their first loss of the season, 4-2 against the Osoyoos Coyotes. They returned to their winning ways with victories over Columbia Valley, 4-3, and Quesnel 9-3. They are 9-1-0-1 on the season.

The Kimberley Dynamiters jumped to No. 2 after winning their three games last week. The Dynamiters began by defeating the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 5-2. Then on Friday, Oct. 18, they edged division rivals, the Fernie Ghostriders 3-2 and wrapped up the week with a 4-3 win over Kamloops. They are 9-2-0 on the season.

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks got back into the top-five mix with a pair of wins. They defeated the Revelstoke Grizzlies 3-1 and the Nelson Leafs 6-2. The Nitehawks are 7-2-1 on the season.

The 100 Mile House Wranglers make their Power Rankings debut after winning two of their three games last week. While they started with a 5-1 loss to the Quesnel River Rush, they bounced back by winning a home-and-home set against the Williams Lake Mustangs by scores of 6-1 and 5-4 in a shootout. The Wranglers are 7-5-0-1.

The Revelstoke Grizzlies return to the top-five after winning two of their three games last week. They lost  3-1 to the Nitehawks, then defeated the Spokane Braves 4-3 in a shootout, and earned a 7-2 win over the Leafs in Nelson.
