Pass closed for avalanche control
DriveBC reports that Highway 3 is closed at Kootenay Pass west of Creston due to high avalanche hazard.
The closures are at the east and west avalanche gates.
There is no estimated time for the highway to re-open.
An alternate route is available between Nelson and Creston via Highway 3A and the Kootenay Lake Ferry, with an estimated travel time of 2.5 hours.
