RDEK officials presented with King Charles Medals

Two Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) officials, one elected and one staff, were Sept. 6 presented with King Charles III Coronation Medals by Kootenay Columbia MP Rob Morrison.

District of Sparwood Mayor, Kootenay East Regional Hospital District Chair and RDEK director David Wilks and RDEK Communications Manager Loree Duczek received the honours from MP Morrison.

“In times of crisis, clear and efficient communication is paramount. Loree has exemplified excellence in that role. As a public service employee, her management of communications during emergency events has been exceptional,” stated MP Morrison.

Loree Duczek receives her honour from MP Morrison with typical good humour.

“She has navigated high-pressure situations, ensuring that critical information flows seamlessly to the appropriate parties. Loree’s ability to remain composed and make sound decisions has undoubtedly saved lives and mitigated the impact of disasters. This award recognizes her unwavering dedication, professionalism, and tireless efforts in keeping communities informed and safe during the most challenging of circumstances. Loree’s invaluable contributions have set the standard for effective emergency communications.”

MP Morrison presented Mayor Wilks with the same honour, noting his service to nation and community, from being a RCMP officer to an elected official, referencing his term as Kootenay-Columbia MP and service to Sparwood and region as a local government official.
