Riders and Rockies climb KIJHL rankings
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) completed its 14th week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlight the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide positioning.
It’s five straight weeks at No.1 for the Revelstoke Grizzlies. The Grizzlies had a rematch with the Kelowna Chiefs last Tuesday and won 4-2 at home. They are 5-0 in December and will look to complete the month undefeated when they host Kamloops on New Year’s Eve.
The Fernie Ghostriders climb a spot to No. 2. They won their lone game last week 3-2 in a shootout over the Grand Forks Border Bruins.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins drop to No. 3. The Border Bruins were edged out in a shootout to the Ghostriders, then lost 4-3 in Kimberley to the Dynamiters to close out the month. They were 4-2-0 in December.
The Sicamous Eagles remain at No. 4. They closed out December with back-to-back wins over the Kelowna Chiefs – 5-2 and 6-4. They were 3-3 during the month.
The Columbia Valley Rockies come in at No. 5. They head into their Christmas break after defeating the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 5-1 and the Golden Rockets 7-4.
KIJHL
