Riding change voting confusion clarified

Changes made over a year ago to the boundaries of Columbia River-Revelstoke and Kootenay-Rockies (Kootenay East) have caused confusion to some voters ahead of the Oct. 19 B.C. election.

Retiring Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Doug Clovechok, who has been campaigning on behalf of BC Conservative (former BC United) candidate Scott McInnis, told e-KNOW he has encountered voters in south Cranbrook who believe they must travel to Kimberley to vote.

That’s not the case, Clovechok noted.

“The new folks in the part of the riding from Cranbrook don’t have to vote in Kimberley. All you have to do is go into Cranbrook to the Heritage Inn. Show them your voter’s card and an ID and you get to vote. They will runoff a ballot for Columbia River-Revelstoke so that you can vote,” he pointed out.
