Shoppers campaign supports Creston Maternity

The Creston Hospital Maternity Unit received some great news last week when Shoppers Drug Mart #2284 in Creston presented a donation of $1,390 to East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) and representatives of the hospital as part of the 14th annual Growing Women’s Health campaign.

Natascha Sundby, coordinator of the local event explained that the campaign provided customers with the opportunity to purchase and personalize a “Growing women’s Health” icon, a “leaf” for a loonie, a “butterfly” for $5, an “apple for $10 and a “bird” for $50   The icons were prominently displayed on the Growing Women’s Health Tree in all participating stores with 100 per cent of campaign proceeds donated to local women’s health organizations.

The Creston funds are stewarded through the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and will be allocated to purchase two medical grade rocking chairs for the Creston Valley Hospital maternity unit.

“What a beautiful gift for the Creston Hospital,” shared Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director. “The addition of the two rockers for the maternity unit is certainly going to provide wonderful comfort for families.”

The Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health Campaign offers patients, customers and employees the opportunity to donate directly to the organizations that make a difference to women’s health in their own communities.
