Snowfall warning for South Country area
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the South Country area of the East Kootenay, including Cranbrook and area and Jaffray, Grasmere, Elko, Baynes Lake and Galloway.
Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected from now until this evening.
“A frontal system moving across the Kootenays is bringing snow to the area. A strong westerly wind will enhance snowfall on west-facing slopes of the East Kootenay – south region, in particular, communities southeast of Cranbrook towards the U.S. border,” Environment Canada stated.
“Snow will ease tonight as the front weakens. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.”
