Snowfall warning issued for region

It’s pretty obvious by now but we’ve got another heavy snowfall warning from Environment Canada covering all the East Kootenay except Kootenay National Park.

Periods of heavy snow are expected in the East Kootenay and East Columbia with 15 to 20 cm of snow expected in all areas up to tonight.

“A weather system is bringing periods of heavy snow to parts of B.C. interior. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected before the heavy snow tapers off tonight. For East Columbia and northern sections of East Kootenay, heavy snow will briefly eases off near noon and intensify again this afternoon,” Environment Canada stated.

For southern sections of East Kootenay, the snow will intensify this morning and continue into the evening.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
