Why Trump should not be allowed into Canada

Letter to the Editor

In June of 2025, Canada will be host to the G7, celebrating 50 years since its inception.

One of the G7 members is a convicted felon in the U.S.A. and would automatically be inadmissible to Canada. Under Canadian Law (canadavisa.com): “Any U.S Citizen or permanent resident that has a felony conviction on their criminal record may be deemed inadmissible to Canada for the purposes of immigrating, or even if they’re merely coming to Canada to visit.”

As far as I’m aware, being the President of a country is not a legitimate exemption, if that person is a felon.

Since the same President has raged against criminals entering the USA, would it not be reasonable to assume that he would understand why he should not be allowed into Canada?

Let’s be clear – Canadians are in no mood to give an inch of consideration to this person, who has no regard for the laws in his own country, or for negotiated global trade agreements, including the one with Canada.

Let him rail against Canada for refusing him entry. He can attend via Zoom.  We won’t compromise our immigration laws, or bow to his bullying ways.

A proud Canadian,

Sharon Cross,

Cranbrook
