Winter tourist season begins this weekend
The East Kootenay’s 2022/23 ski and snowboard season is set to open this weekend, starting Saturday, Dec. 3 at Fernie Alpine Resort.
As of today (Nov. 29) there is a 103 cm base at Fernie.
The other four East Kootenay hills open over the next few weeks.
Panorama Mountain Resort opens for the season on Friday, Dec. 9.
Work winds down on Kimberley Alpine Resort’s North Star Quad rebuild following an arson fire last year and a tentative opening is forecast for the third week of December.
Fairmont Hot Springs Ski Hill opens for the season on Friday, Dec. 16.
Elkford’s Wapiti Ski Hill usually opens in mid-December. Check their website for updates on when it opens.
Golden’s Kicking Horse Mountain Resort opens for the season on Dec. 9.
