Elk Valley RCMP dealing with phone issues

Please be advised that we are experiencing issues with the all Elk Valley RCMP Detachment phone lines.

It appears that the problem may be associated to incoming phone calls from cell phones. Some calls are still getting through; therefore, it may be associated with certain service providers. We are working diligently to rectify this issue.

“We are exploring repairs with the operating system with assistance from our National Help Desk centre. After several tests, it was determined this can be an intermittent concern and that, at times, some calls do make it through. There does not appear to be issues when calling 911 as this has been tested after consultation with our Emergency call centre. This may be weather related given the current blizzard conditions being experienced in the Elk Valley area,” explained S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen, Elk Valley RCMP Detachment commander.

Please dial 911 if you have an emergency.

The Sparwood Detachment can be still be reached at 250-425-6233 or Fernie Detachment at 250-423-4404 from landlines and some cell phones.
