Elkford Fire Rescue shocked by motorists’ disrespect
Elkford Fire Rescue (EFR) stated on social media that its members were shocked to see the disrespect of so many motorists passing an accident scene on Highway 43 this morning (March 4.)
“We all were shocked this morning at those motorists that chose … to just do what they wanted. Most did not pull over to the side of the road to allow us to pass safely en route and many did not follow our traffic commands on scene. We had one motorist ‘blow through’ our scene without hesitation, stopping or slowing and placed a firefighter at risk, EFR outlined on Facebook.
“Our firefighters are very near and dear to our hearts; they are your sons or daughters, brothers or sisters, husbands or wives, fathers, or mothers. When approaching an emergency scene, slow, stop and anticipate the unexpected. It takes time to establish a scene and this may cause you a delay.
“What we witnessed this morning was life threatening and should be a moment of reflection for those that continue to drive like clowns.
“Take a chill pill, relax and let us do our job. Everyone deserves a safe work site… we are no exception,” EFR stated.
“We would like to thank all those motorists that followed our direction on our very icy roads,” it added.
