District of Elkford Mayor Steve Fairbairn and council are pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff McConnell to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), who will begin in the role on November 4.

McConnell brings a distinguished background in public and private sector, currently serving as Director of Corporate Administration Services in Fernie and previously having been a managing partner in a law firm in Manitoba.

His call to local government came while serving as Mayor and a Councillor in his hometown of Virden, Manitoba. This diverse experience, paired with a proactive and strategic leadership style, will continue to move the district in a successful and sustainable direction.

McConnell stated “I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with council and staff in a community well known for its friendliness and strong spirits.”

“We are excited to have Jeff join our herd during this time of change and growth in our community and we are looking forward to the ideas he will bring to this new chapter for our organization,” stated Mayor Fairbairn.
