88 Keys presenting vocal recital on May 6

Friends and music lovers, mark your calendars for a special evening!

On Friday, May 6, the 88 Keys Grand Piano Society is presenting a vocal recital by tenor Tayte Mitchell, with pianist Evan Mounce at Fernie’s Mountainside Community Church.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7:15. To whet your appetite, have a look at the biography notes for these musicians…you won’t want to miss this show! We hope you will join us in giving a warm Fernie welcome to these performers.

Tayte Mitchell

A native of Vulcan, Alberta, Tayte Mitchell completed his Master’s degree in Voice Performance at the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. Past operatic highlights include Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, Le Prince Charmant in Massenet’s Cendrillon and the title role in Britten’s Albert Herring. This summer, Mr. Mitchell is excited to be returning as a Studio Artist with The Wolf Trap Opera Company covering Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata and Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah.

Evan Mounce

Calgary-based pianist and vocal coach Evan Mounce enjoys a close association with the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus as pianist, Calgary Opera as repetiteur, CantarĂ© Children’s Choir as pianist, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church as Music Director. Evan has also worked with kd lang, preparing her for her 25th anniversary tour of Ingenue.

With wife Laura Brandt, Evan has presented numerous recitals including ones for the Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music, the ProArts recital series, and performed on two river cruises from Budapest to Amsterdam as ambassadors of Calgary Opera.

Evan has studied piano at programs across Canada, and spent a summer studying in Italy. He also holds a Master’s degree in Music from the University of Toronto in saxophone performance.
