City considering two options for skatepark

The preliminary concept design options for the City of Fernieā€™s Skatepark Redevelopment project were presented at a Community Workshop on November 3.

The two options were developed for consideration by New Line Skateparks, which is leading this project for the city. It used feedback gathered at an initial workshop in June, and through an online survey, as well as some opportunities and constraints with the existing site to direct the design for the two concepts.

Now we are looking for feedback from the community on which option you prefer, and whether there are any elements missing from your preferred option that you feel could be incorporated to make the design work better.

These are preliminary concept designs and there is still lots of room for changes, and for artistic elements, materials, landscaping and amenities to be revised and expanded on.

The Skatepark Redevelopment project received $1,282,572 in Provincial and Federal grant funding through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, Rural and Northern Infrastructure stream, and whenĀ construction is complete in 2023 it will serve as both a skatepark/all-wheel park and an accessible outdoor community hub.

You can find the presentation from the workshop and the online survey on ourĀ Let’s Talk Fernie Skatepark Redevelopment Project Page.
