City relocating beavers from Annex Park
The City of Fernie announced today (April 23) it has hired a professional trapping service to relocate beavers from the Annex Park.
“The beavers are creating safety issues in the area as they damage trees producing the potential hazard of trees falling on people who are enjoying the park and adjacent trail,” the city explained on social media.
You may notice increased activity in the Annex Park over the coming days as this work is completed, it added.
“This initiative is being undertaken in consultation with the Ministry of Environment and is being conducted during the permitted relocation window specified by provincial regulations,” the city noted.
