Distressed biker rescued by lodge staff and Fernie SAR

Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was today called out to rescue a biker in distress on Lazy Lizard Trail near Island Lake Lodge.

The 67-year-old male from Lethbridge collapsed suffering from cardiac pain.

Guides and a medic from Island Lake Lodge responded on the trail and stabilized the man, while Fernie SAR CDFL Technicians responded to extricate him via heli-longline with Ascent Helicopters (pictured).

He was dropped with BC Ambulance Service paramedics in the lower Island Lake Lodge parking lot and taken to Fernie Hospital.
