Driver rescued from Elk River after crash near West Fernie
On February 22, Elk Valley RCMP responded to a serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 3 at Boardman Road, in the area of West Fernie.
Upon arriving on scene members learned that a westbound commercial vehicle-transport truck crossed the centre line and struck two east bound vehicles, including another commercial vehicle, as well as a passenger vehicle, reported Sgt. Brad Gregory of Elk Valley RCMP.
The passenger vehicle was forced off the road and came to a rest in the Elk River in an area with swift and deep water.
Fernie Fire Rescue attended and safely extracted the male driver of the passenger vehicle, who was taken to Elk Valley Hospital for hypothermia as well as other injuries.
The matter remains under investigation.
“Elk Valley RCMP would like to thank all first responders who attended the collision,” said Sgt. Gregory.
