Fernie hotel donates $5,000 to EKFH campaign
The Fernie Fox Hotel has demonstrated its ongoing support and commitment to the Elk Valley with a donation of $5,000 to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health ‘Beneath the Surface’ campaign.
The “Beneath the Surface” campaign is a fundraising effort to purchase an ultrasound machine for use in the Elk Valley Hospital.
“Having an ultrasound machine at the Elk Valley Hospital will be a huge asset for all of the residents, up and down the Valley. Minimizing travel times and inclement weather travel risks for routine procedures will greatly increase the livability of our community,” said Marina and Jeremiah Pauw, owners of the Fernie Fox Hotel.
An ultrasound allows physicians to see inside a patient’s body and understand the nature of a patient’s symptoms. It provides vital information which can help guide treatment. Ultrasound technology is a critical cornerstone of medicine and patient care. The images captured provide physicians with a wealth of information, including the structure and composition of internal organs, tissues and vessels.
With Teck matching all donations up to $50,000 before Sept 30, this donation will be leveraged to help achieve the goal of raising $300,000 to purchase the ultrasound machine.
