Fernie now on a Water Quality Advisory

The City of Fernie has downgraded the Boil Water Notice issued on August 18 to a Water Quality Advisory.

Testing shows that water quality has improved to a Fair rating.

While the associated health risks are minimal, the City of Fernie and Interior Health recommend that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice.

For these at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute. Water system users should run all taps for five minutes to flush old water from their systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this time.

For more information, please contact the City of Fernie at 250-423-6817, or visit the website at www.fernie.ca.
