Fernie Pride Society looks ahead

Established in 2016, the Fernie Pride Society supports and connects the LGBTQ2+ community in the Elk Valley and seeks to ensure a safe and inclusive region that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of its residents and visitors.

This volunteer-based organization works hard to provide social events, workshops, outreach, community engagement, advocacy, resources and referrals for LGBTQ2+ people of all ages and allies.

To kick off a new year of pride in the Elk Valley, we are hosting our AGM on Monday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Park Place Lodge. Fernie Pride Society memberships will also be available for purchase at a cost of $10/year or $20/3-year. We invite everyone to attend and celebrate our successes and help us plan for the future of Fernie Pride.

Prior to the AGM though, Fernie Pride will again have a colourful presence in the Griz Days Parade. We are so excited to celebrate Griz Days and have a tie-dyed, ‘One Love’ themed float to express the parade theme of ‘Light Up the Night.’

We would love to have you be a part of the fun and walk with Pride during the parade. Interested? Feel free to join in on Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. by looking for the Fernie Pride float, grabbing a shirt or flag, and dancing your way down 2nd Avenue from 6:30 p.m. on.

Fernie Pride exists thanks to the hard work and passion of the people and businesses of the Elk Valley. We are constantly grateful for their support but we are also reaching out for volunteers to be a part of Fernie Pride. Do you have a particular passion for events? Keen on communications? Interested in education? We would love to hear from you!
