A big shoutout to the preschool and elementary school classrooms that submitted names as part of the City of Fernie’s 2024 Snow Plow Naming Contest!

Drumroll please… the winning names are:

• Buzz Iceclear – Ms. Bell’s Tuesday/Thursday afternoon class at Bright Beginnings.
• Snowbro 2.0 – from Ms. Jackson’s Grade 3 class at Isabella Dicken Elementary School.
• Olaf – from the Outdoor Connections Forest School.
• Snowy Llama – from Ms. Ludu’s Grade 2 class at the Fernie Academy.
• Croque-Mitaine – from Ms. Girard Beaudoin’s Grade 2/3 class at Ecole Sophie Morigeau.

Five pieces of winter equipment will be labelled with the winning names, so keep your eyes peeled for Snowbro 2.0 clearing your street and Buzz Iceclear tackling snow to infinity and beyond!

Thanks to all the classes who participated! We’re looking forward to hosting this year’s winners at the Operations Facility in the new year to see these big machines up close (We’ll be warning everyone to keep their mittens safe from Croque-Mitaine!) and learn more about our winter operations.
