Fernie trail closed after grizzly attacks dog
The City of Fernie reports that Cemetery Bypass trail is closed following a grizzly bear attack on a dog on ‘What’s Up Doc’ trail.
At the request of the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, the trail will remain closed for five days.
The city asks please avoid the area, respect the signage at the trailhead and remember to be aware of the animals we share the trails with, and what to do if you encounter one while out recreating.
The city did not relate what happened to the dog following the bear attack.
