Local youth launches inspiring non-profit

In an inspiring show of compassion and dedication, Amy Attalla, a 17-year-old graduate of Fernie Secondary School, is set to launch ‘Sibshops Fernie,’ a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting siblings of special needs children.

Motivated by her personal experiences growing up with a younger sister with autism, Amy aims to fill a gap in the community’s support systems.

Having witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and emotional journeys faced by siblings of children with special needs, Amy’s initiative seeks to provide a haven where these siblings can find understanding, support, and camaraderie.

Sibshops Fernie will offer workshops, recreational activities, and emotional support tailored specifically for these often-overlooked family members.

“My sister has taught me so much about love, patience, and the beauty of different perspectives,” shared Amy. “I want to ensure that other siblings like me have the support they need to thrive in their unique roles.”

The Sibshops Fernie program is seeking volunteers and financial contributions to help make these support activities possible. Community members interested in volunteering their time or donating to this noble cause are encouraged to reach out to Amy for more information.

For further details on how to get involved with Sibshops Fernie, please contact Amy at the Sibshops Fernie website.
