Family Programming
Storytime (Ages three to five years)
Tuesdays 11:15 a.m.-noon – Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.
Toddlertime (Ages up to two years)
Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15 a.m. – Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.
*SPECIAL EVENT: Reading and Ridin’: Tuesday, May 23 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Special Storytime to celebrate books and bikes! Meet at the Fernie Community Centre for a special active story time with your preschooler and their two to four wheeler and helmet. Snack picnic potluck to follow at Rotary Park. Check Facebook event for more details.
Children’s Activities for School-aged children
Tuesdays 3:30-4:45 p.m. Knits, Knots & Yarns
Drop-in crafting for ages 8+. Learn the art and peace of knitting. Take home all your finished creations!
Wednesdays 3:45-4:45 p.m. Kids Coding Club
This program is in partnership with CBAL and is for kids eight plus years old interested in a fun way of understanding basic coding skills.
Wednesdays 3:45-4:45 p.m. Kids’ Read it First Book / Movie Club
For ages nine plus. A book club with a movie ending. Drop-in. This month’s book: Peter Pan by JM Barrie. Movie screening with popcorn on Wednesday, May 24 – 3:30-5 p.m.
Thursdays 3:30-4:45. p.m LEGO Builders Club – Registration REQUIRED.
New challenge every week, for ages seven plus. Register for April session by emailing [email protected]
Teen Programming
Pizza League: Thursday, May 18 6-7 p.m.
For teens ages 13+: Drop in for some pizza and discussion. Sponsored by Elk Valley Pizza Shoppe.
Adult Programming
First Thursday Social: Thursday, May 4 – 7-8 p.m. Beyond Monopoly.
Once a month time for adults to enjoy a friendly gathering and possibly a lively discussion on a monthly theme. May’s discussion is about money matters, and financial tips post-tax season!
Stitch and Bitch – Wednesday, May 3, 10 a.m.
Drop-In knitting, crocheting, and any other yarny endeavour, on the first Wednesday of each month Please enter using the back door.
Tea and Talk Book Club: Friday, May 26 at 1:30 p.m. Lost and Found by Brooke Davis. All are welcome. Copies of the book are available from the library.
Walkie Talkie: Wednesday, May 31 at 10 a.m. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
We will meet at the library front steps and walk along along the river path and chat as we go. Please email [email protected] for details.

All-Ages Programming
Bike Adventure Slide Show: Thursday, May 25 7-8 p.m. It’s time to share your biking adventure! Email us five to 10 pictures of a recent bike adventure and then join us for a night of stories as we host a slideshow with popcorn. See FB event or email [email protected] for details.
Ride with Librarians: Wednesday, May 31 4-5:30 p.m.
Join Fernie Heritage Library librarians as we hop on our bikes to launch our Fernie Book Bike (pictured above) Programs. We will meet in the library garden with our bikes, bells and balloons, on a scheduled yet leisurely route around town and ending with a potluck picnic and an all ages storytime at a public park. All bikes and riders welcome to join us for the entire ride, or at pick-up spots along the way. This is a part of Bike to Work and School Week Friday, May 29 – June 1.
