Overnight warming centre set up in Fernie

With the current extreme cold warning in effect for the Elk Valley, the City of Fernie has partnered with several local organizations including Interior Health, Elk Valley Safe Homes, Fernie Women’s Resource Centre, East Kootenay Addictions Services, Fernie Salvation Army, Elk Valley Family Society, and the Senior’s Centre to open an overnight warming centre for the public.

The warming centre will be available to anyone looking for somewhere to warm up inside during the evenings and overnight when other public facilities are not open.

It will be located at the Senior Center at 562 3rd Avenue and will be open December 21 through to December 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. There will be tables, chairs, and light refreshments (coffee, tea, etc.) available.
