Police investigating assault in Fernie
Elk Valley RCMP is investigating an alleged assault that occurred on December 11 in Fernie.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the 1100 or 1200 block of 1stAvenue and the 45-year-old victim did not know her assailant. The victim managed to get away without any injury.
Information spread on social media suggested that a cross-country skier is a person of interest.
“However, the RCMP now believes that the skier person was a bystander and likely witnessed the event,” said Sgt. Brad Gregory of Elk Valley RCMP.
