Thank you Ron Pitt for 28 years of dedication

By Mary Giuliano

On April 18, City of Fernie employees from the various departments gathered at the Public Works yards at 3 p.m. to congratulate one of their co-workers who has retired.

Ron Pitt, a carpenter and very experienced tradesperson who could accomplish almost any work required for city properties has retired after 28 years of exemplary work.

Ron made the decision quietly and without fanfare determining that now was the right time to retire and so surprised everyone by just making his decision and leaving employment with the city a couple of weeks ago.

Sean Holder made a presentation to Ron on behalf of the workers and I as mayor presented Ron on behalf of the organization. Both Sean and I delivered a short speech praising Ron for his dedication the past years and thanking him for his good work, afterwards Ron cut cakes to celebrate the occasion.

Ron is a talented and knowledgeable worker who will be missed by everyone at the corporation of the City of Fernie. Council and staff and co-workers extend sincere Congratulations to Ron and wish him a long and very happy retirement.

Thank you Ron for 28 years of dedication to our town and wishing you the very best in the future.
