Wapiti Music Festival returning August 5 and 6

Wapiti Music Festival is returning to Fernie in 2022 for a 10th year with a venue change.

“We have been very fortunate to call the Annex Park home for the last nine years, but it is undergoing crucial upgrading over the summer and won’t have the access we need to be able to host everyone. With that being said, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting it at James White Park!” organizers stated on social media.

“The location change won’t affect any of the core details of the festival. It will still have great music, food, and beverages. We’ve got trees, tons of parking space, and of course those magical mountain views. It will also have great pedestrian and cyclist access. There will be some effect on parking as there is not nearly as much on-site parking,” Wapiti organizers said.

As a result of potential parking problems, organizers will be strongly encouraging everyone to walk or bike to Wapiti if possible.

“On-site parking will be limited to those with mobility challenges. Parking locations will be mapped out and announced clearly on social and on the website. We are carefully planning this out to reduce the impact on the nearby neighbours.”

During the August 5 and 6 run of the festival, access to James White Park will be limited to festival attendees during the period the festival is operating.

Access may be limited due to safety concerns around vehicles and equipment movement on the Thursday before and the Sunday after the festival.

If you happen to have any concerns, you can email festival organizers at [email protected] and they will be happy to address them.
