Wapiti Music Festival supports Fernie Heritage Trust Society

Wapiti Music Festival is delighted to announce a donation of $10,000 to the Fernie Heritage Trust Society.

This donation will support the music and sound infrastructure as part of their mission to transform the historic Knox United Church building into a vibrant community performing arts space.

The Fernie Heritage Trust Society is dedicated to preserving and repurposing historic buildings in Fernie, and the Knox United Church is a significant part of this heritage. The conversion of this beautiful, historic building into a performing arts space will provide a much-needed venue for local artists, musicians, and performers to showcase their talents and bring cultural enrichment to the community.

“We are incredibly proud to support the Fernie Heritage Trust Society in their efforts to create a dynamic performing arts space,” said Paul Michal, Director at Wapiti Music Festival. “Music and the arts are at the heart of community life, and we believe this new venue will serve as a cornerstone for cultural activities in Fernie.”

The donation from the Wapiti Music Festival Society will specifically fund the development of state-of-the-art music and sound infrastructure, ensuring that the new performing arts space meets the highest standards for acoustics and sound quality. This contribution underscores Wapiti’s commitment to fostering a thriving cultural scene in Fernie and supporting projects that benefit the entire community.

“The support from Wapiti Music Festival is invaluable to our mission,” said Brad Snell, Director of Programming at Fernie Heritage Trust Society. “This donation brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of a community-centred performing arts space that honours the history of Knox United Church while providing a modern venue for artistic expression.”
