Family Programming

Storytime (Ages 3-5 years)
 Tuesdays 11:15-11:45 a.m.
Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Toddlertime (Ages 0-2 years)
Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15-11:45 a.m.
Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.

Senior Storytime for all ages with seniors and local preschool/ Kindy Children (drop in) at:

Rocky Mountain Village Serenity Room: Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

Trinity Lodge: Wed., Oct 24 at 1:30 p.m.
All seniors and families’ welcome to attend these community outreach programs!

BOO! Storytime Halloween Potluck

Wednesday, Oct 31 from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Dress up yourself and your baby/preschooler and join us for an hour or stories, songs, a craft and fun! Please bring a simple potluck snack to share.

Children’s Activities for Grades 1-6

Wednesdays 3:45-4:45 p.m. Lego Town (ages 7+) October 10-24. 
We are building a Lego town complete with all our favourite parks, places, shops and amenities. REGISTER ON EVENTBRITE TO ATTEND (see “October Lego Town”) Registration opens on Oct 2. Please read our registration policy.

Thursdays 3:45-4:45 p.m. Tech Petting Zoo (ages 10+) Oct 11-25.

Meet some of the new technology at the library and discover cool ways to use coding at this learner and play-driven after school program. Limited spaces: MUST REGISTER ON EVENTBRITE TO ATTEND (“Tech Petting Zoo-October”) Registration opens on Oct 2nd. Please see our registration policy here.

Drag Queen Storytime: Friday, October 12, 4 p.m. (as part of Elk Valley Pride Festival).

Library Storytime Programmer Anie Hepher will host Misty Meadows and her friends while they read from a number of library books about being unique and the freedom to be different. Snacks and drinks are on. This event is geared for the ages seven to 11 crowd but younger children are welcome with their parents.

FUN FRIDAY & SUPER SATURDAY

Drop In Board Games, and Puzzles
- Friday, Oct. 19/Sat Oct. 2 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
 Bring a friend, sibling or meet someone new and join in on some old school table-game fun. This is a drop-in, play-based program. Children under seven must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your library manners and enjoy the library!

Hogwarts Halloween Howler Wednesday – October 31, 3:30-5 p.m.
Come dressed in your costume get ready to enjoy some Harry Potter-themed magical fun!. All ages are welcome to attend. Children under seven must be accompanied by an adult.

Day of the Dead (Dia del Muertos) Thursday, November 1, 3:45-5:30 p.m. Drop-in Ages seven to 12 (waiver required)
 We are celebrating the Day of the Dead (Dia del Muerte) with stories and activities to honour those we love who have passed on. AS part of the program, we will be watching some of the COCO movie. Participants are asked to bring a photograph of someone special whom they have lost (pets included). This program is run in collaboration with the Elk Valley Hospice Society. Parents welcome to attend.

Tweens and Teens

Tuesdays: 3:45-4:45 p.m. Kindness Committee: For teens who want to make a difference in our community, learn or discover skills for a dream job. Drop-in for grades seven and up; snack provided. This program is in collaboration with the Fernie Youth Action Network.

Drag Queen BINGO Friday, October 12, 6 p.m. (as part of Elk Valley Pride Festival) 
FREE; ages 12-17 years
 B-I-N-G-O – Misty Meadows and her entourage will be calling the game all the while offering up her insights into the world of Drag Queens. Of course there will be Prizes, Pizza and Pop to make things truly messy. Please register for this fun event at [email protected]

Adult Programming

#WriteItDown : Thursday, October 11, 6:30-7:45 pm. (KICK OFF event)
Are you a writer looking for inspiration and a chance to connect with others? Join our monthly gathering of those who keen to write, share and learn. Facilitated by local writers, poets, songwriters, bloggers, editors and journalers. All writers welcome! A safe place to read and/or share aloud what you have written and listen to the creative words of others. New theme and genre every month.

Knit Clique

Drop-In space for all who enjoy a yarny endeavour in good company. BYO project: tea will be on. Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on the main floor couch.

**NEW** CYBER SENIORS Wednesday, October 3, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Are you a senior that is keen to learn about their ipad, laptop or has questions about their gmail account, the app store or youtube? Come join a librarian on the first Wednesday of the month and succeed in unraveling some of these mysteries in technology.

Walkie Talkie Book Club Wednesday, October 10 at 10 a.m.
Dress for the weather and join us for this outdoor, moving book club. All are welcome. Copies of this month’s book ( The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows ) are available from the library circulation desk.

Author Event: Bill Stenson Ordinary Strangers Friday, October 26 at 7-9 p.m.
 Join the winner of the great BC novel Contest – Bill Stenson – as he reads from and discusses his new book. Cash bar and live music.

Tea and Talk Book Club: Friday, October 26 at 1:30 p.m.
For good conversation over a cup of tea, look no further! Copies of book are available from the library.

All-Ages Programming

UKE 101: Thursday October 25, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Music Builds Brain Power: a free, one-hour intermediate workshop to continue honing your ukulele prowess. Ukuleles are available for use during the workshop and for sign out after the event. MUST REGISTER on Eventbrite TO ATTEND. Limited spaces: (Eventbrite: Uke 101 OCT).
