Members of the Jaffray, Baynes Lake and Elko Fire Departments are on the scene of a wildfire this afternoon near the community of Kragmont, south of Baynes Lake.

The fire is being fueled by the winds and dry conditions and is located near Fitzpatrick Road and the intersection of Highway 93.

Currently, there are 15 firefighters and nine pieces of apparatus on site. Assistance has been requested from the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire is currently estimated at five hectares in size and is visible from the surrounding area. No structures are threatened at this time.

Residents are asked to stay out of the area to allow firefighters full access to respond.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.
