Coal Miner Days hosting reverse parade June 12

Organizers with Sparwood’s annual Coal Miner Days festivities are forging ahead with COVID-19 contemplated plans such as a reverse parade, calls for local eateries to offer specials and more.

Cancelled last year due to the pandemic, Coal Miner Days organizers this year noted on social media, “The Coal Miner Days Society is so excited to share all of the great things that are happening this year. Fingers crossed the health guidelines stay at least the same.”

Similar to Fernie’s Griz Days this year, Coal Miner Days is hosting a reverse parade, where onlookers drive by stationary floats, on Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to noon along Douglas Fir Road.

Parade entry forms will be posted on Coal Miner Days’ website.

Please note that no foot traffic will be allowed on the parade route for safety’s sake.

Check out Coal Miner Days’ Facebook page for more information.
