Coal train derailment north of Sparwood

A Canadian Pacific Railway train derailed north of Sparwood yesterday (August 21).

District of Sparwood Mayor David Wilks reported on Facebook that nine rail cars came off the tracks at Mile 3 on the Fording River subdivision.

“Five of the nine cars are on their sides and there is coal on the ground. No injuries, no dangerous goods involved. Officers and equipment are now at site,” Wilks said.
