David Wilks returning as Sparwood Mayor
David Wilks is returning as District of Sparwood Mayor today with a resounding result.
Wilks captured 734 votes over challenger Hungry J Baytaluke who earned 302 votes.
Re-joining Wilks on council will be incumbent Amy Cardozo who captured the most council votes with 724.
Two other incumbents return in John D Baher (596 votes) and Jason Christensen (547).
New to council are Chris K Nand (616 votes), Steven Kallies (582) and Sam Atwal (543).
Rose Sharma missed out by 20 votes, with Sonny G Saad and Ralph L Lovatt also falling short.
Sparwood voters had two referendum questions that both failed.
- Are you in favour of Fire Hall #2 Loan Authorization Borrowing Bylaw 1298, 2022 to authorize the District of Sparwood to borrow up to $3 million, with interest, over a period not exceeding 30 years in order to finance the renovation and expansion of Fire Hall #2 located at 1391 Ponderosa Drive?â NOT passed â 515 to 533
- Are you in favour of Multi-Purpose Facility Loan Authorization Borrowing Bylaw 1300, 2022 to authorize the District of Sparwood to borrow up to $15 million, with interest? NOT passed â 463 to 586.
