Delays on Highway 43 at Sparwood Oct. 24

Following bridge joint replacement work completed in September, Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting Ltd.’s fall maintenance continues on Michel Creek Bridge, Elkford Spur Overhang and Michel Mouth Bridge in Sparwood.

Mainroad crews will be paving on BC Highway 43 approximately one kilometre north of the Highway 3 intersection.

Work is scheduled to start tomorrow morning, Thursday, October 24 at 6 a.m. through 5 p.m. weather permitting.  Mainroad Operations is planning this work around current weather conditions, and says it apologizes for the short notice of this advisory.

Motorists will experience minor delays with single lane alternating traffic in effect.

Drivers are reminded to obey signs and traffic control personnel and watch for roadside workers.  Please show respect for all roadside crews – slow down.
