Elk Valley RCMP this afternoon attended a fatal collision on 9500 block of Highway 43, just north of Sparwood.

The collision involved a southbound pickup truck with five occupants, and a northbound transport truck.  Investigators are still attempting to determine the cause, however there was inclement weather at the time of the collision, with mixed snow and rain.

One fatality has been confirmed.

Highway 43 remains closed pending the investigation; however, the RCMP is advising drivers that they can re-route via Lower Elk Valley Road at this time.
