Schools close as power restored for most in Sparwood
UPDATE: Power has been restored for most customers in Sparwood.
Students in Sparwood schools are being dismissed early due to power outages currently impacting 1,399 residents.
School District No. 5 reports it is concerned about adequate light and heat in the schools.
“Power may be restored at 1 p.m. at the earliest. School staffs will be contacting parents to pick up their children and busses are being dispatched early for bus students,” SD5 outlined on its website.
BC Hydro reports the outage is under investigation. No time has been given as to when power may be restored.
