OTHER
Bears and Our Community
It is that time of year to start thinking about picking your fruit trees, cleaning up all the fallen fruit, and removing other bear attractants (BBQs, bird feeders, pet food, etc.). The bears have started coming into the community looking for easy food sources to bulk up before hibernation. It is a bylaw offence to place garbage out on the curb before 5 a.m. on collection day. Remember to unclip the bear-resistant locks after placing the cart at the curb. Excess garbage should be taken to the Transfer Station which is open from 9 am to 5 pm seven days a week (excluding statutory holidays). Remember that a fed bear is a dead bear.
