Sparwood Medical Imaging Department upgraded

The Sparwood Health Centre has a new digital x-ray system now in place.

Construction on the $1.025 million project began in June of this year, with the Kootenay East Regional Hospital District contributing $410,000 towards its total cost.

The project’s objective was to remove the existing Phillips X-ray system and replace it with a new Shimadzu ‘Radspeed Pro DR’ system. The previous system was first installed in 1997 and has reached the end of its lifecycle.

The upgrades required renovations to be completed to the Medical Imaging Department, providing upgraded electrical and mechanical systems to meet the new equipment specification requirements.

The Sparwood Health Centre was built in 1976 as the Sparwood General Hospital. The Centre is home to a Medical Clinic, Primary Care Clinic, Emergency Department, Community Dialysis Clinic, Lab Services, Medical Imaging, Mental Health Substance Use, Home Health, and Home Support.
