Sparwood residents are invited to a public meeting to learn more about the proposed residential development Westwood Heights by New Dawn Developments.

The open house is February 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sparwood Recreation Centre.

Westwood Heights is located in Sparwood Heights behind Firehall #2, stretching north and south from the old ski hill road to the power line.

A District of Sparwood council report notes “Westwood is a 20.45 ha parcel that was created in 1982 and has been planned for residential development for many years. These lands are identified in our current Official Community Plan (OCP) as Single-Family Residential and have been identified as future residential development in successive OCPs dating back to at least 1985.”

New Dawn Development describes Westwood Heights as an exciting new residential development that will “provide an ideal opportunity for families and working individuals looking to settle in the beautiful Elk Valley. It will offer a variety of quality-built, affordable single-family homes as well as multi-family fourplex units.”

At a special council meeting on January 10, the Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Amendment bylaws covering Westwood Heights were given first and second readings.
