Two Ghostriders named as weekly stars
KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week: ending Nov. 7
Fernie Ghostriders McCoy Bidewell and Kyle Klein (pictured above), along with Alex Ochitwa of the Osoyoos Coyotes are the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) 3 Stars of the week for the period ending Nov. 7.
The Grande Prairie, Alberta native, who was named one of the KIJHL Stars of the Month for October, has continued his strong play. Bidewell (pictured right) posted back-to-back shutouts against the Castlegar Rebels (46 saves) and Grand Forks Border Bruins (20 saves) during the weekend. With that performance, Bidewell has improved his record to eight wins (first in KIJHL) in 11 games with a 1.56 goals against average (third in KIJHL) and .959 save percentage (first in KIJHL). Bidewell is also tied for second in shutouts with three.
F- Ochitwa –2nd Star
The Prince George native enjoyed a six-point performance on the weekend, helping the Coyotes to a pair of wins. Ochitwa had a two-goal, four point night against the Princeton Posse earning the second star, then had a goal and two points against the Kelowna Chiefs. In four games since playing his first as a Coyotes on Oct. 20, Ochitwa has seven goals and 11 points. He recorded a hat-trick against Kelowna on Oct. 29.
D- Klein – 3rd Star
The Elkford product had a goal and four points in two games for the Ghostriders, including the game-winning goal against the Border Bruins. Klein picked up an assist in a 2-0 win over Castlegar in his 100th career KIJHL game. In 12 games this season, Klein has four points. In 2019-20, Klein had six points in 39 games for the Ghostriders.
