44th annual JulyFest this weekend

A soggy forecast for the East Kootenay this weekend won’t be paid much heed by thousands of revellers and athletes in Kimberley during the 44th annual JulyFest fun.

JF BocceJulyfest is Kimberley’s biggest festival of the year seeing thousands of locals and tourists alike come out for three days and two nights to enjoy a wide variety of activities.

The weekend’s festivities begin with an astounding 210 plus teams vying for the Canadian Bocce Championships which will run the entire three days. With live music, beverage gardens, local vendors and the distinguished Kimberley cuisine, the bocce area is a staple for festival-goers.

JF Parade33The JulyFest Homecoming Parade on Saturday, July 16 starts at 10:30 a.m., running from Centennial Field to the Civic Centre Arena.

Julyfest is home to one of the biggest soccer tournaments in North America, being held on fields in Kimberley and Marysville. It also features an extreme downhill longboard race on Sunday, July 17 – from Selkirk Secondary School to Kimberley Building Supply corner. Racing starts at 2 p.m.

There is also a Kids’ Festival and an amazing Saturday night Dance Party in the Kimberley Civic Centre.
