City secures four-year deal with unionized employees

The City of Kimberley and the United Steelworkers Local 1-405 have officially reached a four-year collective agreement after a year of negotiations.

The agreement replaces the previous contract that expired on February 29, 2020.

Outside and Aquatic employees will receive 1.43%, 1.43%, two per cent and two per cent wage increases respectively per year over the four-year agreement.  Inside employees will receive 2.48%, 2.48%, 3.46% and two per cent wage increases respectively.

These increases will bring Inside employees to parity with outside employees during the course of the contract, a goal both the city and the union were adamant on achieving.

Other items of note include increased health benefits and weekend winter road maintenance shifts to improve safety.

The City of Kimberley values our employees and looks forward to continuing to provide Kimberley residents with exceptional service.
