Kimberley residents looking to learn the basics of computer usage or who don’t have access to a computer of their own can once again turn to the College of the Rockies Kimberley Campus.

The Community Access Program (CAP), funded by the Government of Canada, is designed to bring free computer and internet use to communities.  This is the seventh year that the program will be running at the Kimberley Campus.

Program Assistant Josh Lockhart says, “The CAP program provides an opportunity for our Youth Intern to work with community members to teach them basic computer skills.  We can show users how their employability and educational opportunities are increased through the free access to our high-speed internet computers.”

This year’s Youth Intern will be Shane Peltzer. Shane brings web design and computer skills to the position and is eager to share his knowledge with the community.

The program offers free one-to-one tutorials that anyone in the community can sign up for. There are also basic computer courses, ranging from computer and internet basics to using Facebook to stay in touch with distant family members. The program this year runs until February 2013.
