Dynamiters’ McLean joins ACHA’s Saints

Kimberley Dynamiters forward Campbell McLean will play for the Maryville University Saints next season.

McLean, 20, had eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 21 games for the Dynamiters. McLean played a key role in helping the Dynamiters win the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Teck Cup by putting up 26 points in 23 games.

McLean was traded to the Dynamiters from the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, where he started the season with 11 goals and 24 points in 18 games.

In 77 career KIJHL games with the Thunder Cats and Dynamiters, McLean had 31 goals and 45 assists for 76 points. He added 39 points in 30 KIJHL Teck Cup championship games.

McLean is looking forward to this new hockey journey with the Saints.

“The Maryville hockey program, along with their Exercise Science program, checked all the boxes,” said McLean. “Coming to Kimberley was the best thing I’ve done in my hockey career. They have a winning environment and I learned about what it takes to win. The fans, coaches and my teammates are going to be along with me for the rest of my career.”

McLean added that playing in the KIJHL helped improve his all-around game and this season he learned to not let small things affect his play and to stay focused.

Dynamiters head coach and GM Derek Stuart said the organization is happy for McLean.

“The opportunity for him to begin his education and also play for a top hockey program in Marysville is very exciting,” said Stuart. “He deserves it and he’s earned it. The direct, positive impact Campbell had on our team in so many different ways was remarkable. We wouldn’t have won without him.”

Maryville University is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
