La Nina has hit! Early season massive snowfall has triggered the favourite words of everyone here in Kimberley, ‘Early Preview Opening,’ on Saturday, December 7 and 8.

“Combine the incredible snowfall with extensive summer grooming and brushing, this is going to be one of the best early opening preview weekends in recent history,” said Kimberley Alpine Resort’s Matt Mosteller, aka @PowderMatt.

“This community has such incredible passion for skiing/riding, and supporting the importance of getting outside in winter for physical and mental health benefits!” added Mosteller.

“Huge shout-out to all of the Kimberley Alpine Resort team members who have been working so hard to make this possible,” added Christine Schultheis, Kimberley Alpine Resort (KAR) General Manager. “The crew has been busy track packing, snow making and getting ready for opening, and with 120cm snowfall to date, we have incredible early season conditions.

“We want to thank the community who ski and ride with us for all your support.  We have some very exciting news to share – we have added not only new snowmaking guns, but most importantly a brand new Prinoth Snow Cat! The new Cat is designed to meet ‘Stage V’ emission standards which operates in a more environmentally friendly way,” Schultheis said.

Regular seven day a week operations will begin Friday, December 13.
